We didn’t choose Spruce Pine, it chose us.

The idyllic mountain town, located in Western North Carolina, is home to our US headquarters because of the rare geological makeup of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our community is deeply rooted in mining, arts, and outdoor adventure. It is with this adventurous spirit that we seek collaboration with our colleagues and partners across the globe. Once a Spruce Pine resident knows you by name, you are considered a local no matter where you live!

Spruce Pine is a base camp for amazing adventures during all four seasons.

Delight in all the wonders the winter has to offer in Spruce Pine’s backyard. Local ski resorts include Sugar Mountain, Wolf Ridge, and Beech Mountain.

Get your culture fix at one of the dozen museums in town dedicated to everything from paintings by Picaso to American muscle cars. For the sports fan, Charlotte will keep your jersey in constant rotation with its professional sports leagues; Carolina Panthers, NFL, Charlotte Football Club, MLS, Nascar at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Charlotte Hornets, NBA, Charlotte Knights, MLB, and Charlotte Checkers, NHL.

In the spring and summer, celebrate the beautiful blooms at Roan Mountain by visiting the annual rhododendron festival or hiking the Appalachian Trail. The trail is one of three prominent trails in the United States, known as the triple crown of hiking.

Spruce Pine is home to Mayland Community College and Penland School of Craft. Penland School of Craft is an international craft education centre with total immersion workshops, artist residencies, and community programs.

Mayland Community College (MCC) is ranked 10th on the top 50 best community colleges list by bestschools.org. MCC offers a variety of curriculum programs including numerous college transfer options, continuing education, and high school dual enrolment.

From public to private schools, Spruce Pine offers opportunities to students of all ages. Primary and secondary options in the area include Mitchell County Schools, Yancey County Schools, Avery County Schools, Spruce Pine Montessori School, Tri County Christian School, Mayland Early College, and homeschool. At TQC, we cheer for your home team, whichever that may be!
